A new gardening team .....
After much deliberation a decision was made last year to re-tender the contract for the maintenance of the grounds and gardens. We felt it was time to talk to new contractors who could bring a fresh approach and vision to our estate. So after a number of years at The Old Meadow, the Limetree Landscapes team, Chris and Matt, finished at the end of December. They will be missed, as they were familiar faces to many of us. We thanked them, and expressed our appreciation for their hard work during their time here.

The new gardeners, Phil and his team from Priestgate Gardening Specialists, who are local to Telford, started in January. They had an initial rude awakening with the job of cleaning up the two gardens after the floods. Those of you who witnessed their efforts couldn't help but be impressed by their diligence and the 'pedestrianised power machine' they used to clean the paths.

The latest on the bamboo removal......
We are now in the next stage of the removal of the bamboo from the north garden, the stems have been cut and the debris will be removed and disposed of in the next few days. The grinding of the rhizomes back into the soil will be carried out sometime in March/April, and we have been warned that it will be a noisy process. Following on from that we will be able to do some temporary planting of flower seeds to give us some colour through the summer. In the autumn permanent planting should be able to take place and this will be thought through carefully both from a cost perspective and the overall appearance we want to achieve.
We are buoyed up by the knowledge that we have plans drawn up by Pippa Willcox that are now in the capable hands of co-opted board member, David Brown. 'Capability Brown' (hopefully following in the footsteps of his famous namesake) will work with the new gardeners, and with all this combined expertise we expect see our grounds and gardens improve for everyone to enjoy.
