DIG THIS DECEMBER 2022

The holly and the ivy ......
Here we are nearly in the grips of winter, but so far not so cold but a lot of rain has been the main issue, fortunately interspersed with some sunny days. Things are starting to look very bare now that most of the leaves have come off the trees. One positive of that is that the sun can get through and occasionally the warmth can still be felt though our coats and jackets.

Tree survey
We have up to 40 trees around the estate of all shapes and sizes, deciduous and evergreen, and they add a great deal to our environment. We hope to have a tree survey carried out in the next couple of weeks and this will identify trees and advise what surgery is required to keep them in the best possible condition.

Bamboo
The second treatment of the bamboo has been carried out and so we now look forward to the next stage in the new year. This will be when the stems are cut, gathered and put into bundles; arrangements will then be made to have then removed. Grinding of the rhizomes will return all of the goodness back to the soil to help future growth of any eventual permanent planting to take place. David and Pippa will be instrumental in helping us in planning for future permanent planting next autumn.
