DIG THIS APRIL 2022

Rome wasn't built in a day

We are all very fortunate to live at The Old Meadow and we'll all hopefully find time to enjoy the amenities that surround us on the estate. But after eight years or so, the open areas - whether they be the two major communal gardens or the shrub borders around the estate - are in need of some major revitalisation. You may have noticed from time to time, a small group of owners having a look around these areas and pointing. Hopefully, some of this "looking and pointing" will soon be translated into actions that will see improvements over the next few years.

The large areas of bamboo in the north garden, but not so much in the south, are a major cause of concern due to the plant's invasive nature. We are taking counsel from a professional company that is advising us on how this plant can be best managed.

The occasional flooding of the gardens is also a factor to take into account when considering future changes and replanting. We are fortunate in having the professional eye of Pippa Willcox, a local horticulturalist (helped by our gardening team), to work on these tasks. Group sessions with the Friends of the Old Meadow (FoTOM) are being discussed, and we will be keeping you informed via the notice boards, and here on our "Dig This" newsfeed, which we update on 1st of each month.

We also intend to keep you up to date with the plans and timescale of all this, finance of course permitting.
