DIG THIS MARCH 2022

Tuesday 1st March 2022

Is spring about to show its face?
March is the month when plants and trees start to burst into life and the birds start their nest building. Have you noticed how the bird life has increased at The Old Meadow over the last year or two? Blue tits, robins, sparrows, blackbirds and wrens are now regular visitors.
The tubs at the rear of Montgomery house are now flourishing and promise to provide a real burst of colour over the next month or so. So too are the beds on the entrance road. Many thanks to the Friends' of The Old Meadow (FoTOM) group who gave up their time last October planting bulbs and winter bedding flowers.
The recent flooding of the north and south feature gardens left a lot of mud and debris behind. Thanks to the work of a few volunteers most of this has now been cleared up and I'm sure within a couple of weeks mother nature will work her magic (helped by our gardening team) and everything will be flourishing once again. It seems that we are likely to suffer these events once or twice a year, probably the impact of global warming?
As the weather warms up, the FoTOM group hopes to hold a couple of sessions working with Pippa Willcox our associated professional horticulturalist. So if you have green fingers or merely want to get out and meet some of your neighbours look out for notification of the dates on the notice boards and on our website
