Big garden bird watch and other animals
We are too late to join the RSPB's big garden bird watch, but thought it would be interesting to see what birds have been spotted in The Old Meadow. So if you have had any recent sightings do let the web administrator know, better still a photograph for the website would be welcomed. Most recent sightings have included a hawk and a great-spotted woodpecker and the tawny owls across the river have been hooting loudly in the early hours.

We also have toads in the gardens. They should be waking up in March, so watch out when you are digging that you don't accidentally injure a sleeping beauty. Toads love to eat slugs and snails so are a welcome addition to TOM.

Watch out there's a rat about
Inevitably wherever there is rubbish, bird feeders or food left about rats will follow. There have been a couple of sightings in the communal gardens and we will alert the managing agents.

Garden waste
We've had reports that some residents are putting garden waste in the Montgomery House bin stores. Not only does this mean that recycling material will be contaminated and cannot be processed but it could also lead to sanctions from Veolia. If you are a flat or house owner with a garden and need to dispose of green waste then please take it to the recycling centre and/or house owners can contact https://shropshire.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish/ Shropshire Council from whom you can request a small or large green bin to keep in your garage. They deliver too and the bin is emptied every fortnight.

Working together with WhatsApp
Don't forget we have a community WhatsApp group that any one can join Contact Usso if you are off to the recycling centre and can take a bit more for a neighbour, why not let the group know? Or if you need something removed it's always worth putting out a request.
