The Gardens

The hot dry weather undoubtedly takes its toll on the gardens and in particular on the tubs, planters and feature beds.
Many thanks to the stalwart few residents who have carried buckets, watering cans and even bottles of water along to help keep the plants alive.

The two curved beds in the South garden were planted up a couple of weeks ago and are now beginning to develop into quite a show of colour. Yet again the need to water those beds has been vital to keeping the plants alive.

The Board of the RMC recently discussed the need to continue planning for the future of all the garden areas on the development with the clear realisation that the ravages of time have had their impact on many of the areas of planting with several specific problem areas identified.

We hope to once again draw on the experience of Horticulturalist Pippa Wilcox and our resident David Brown to help us with this task . In reality we are looking at drawing up a 5 year plan and recognition that the costs will have to carefully considered and budgeted for.

So yes, if you are looking out onto bare patches or overgrown areas or areas of problematic planting, these are in our vision and will hopefully be drawn into our future plans for improvement.

Friends of The Old Meadow

Many thanks to the Friends who turned out on 14th July. You will I hope have noticed the updated planting of red and white geraniums in the tubs and feature beds completed on that day. A good deal of time was also spent litter picking and sweeping around the parking areas. At the end of that morning's work the development was looking quite spick and span, so well done!
