DIG THIS JULY 2021

Thursday 1st July 2021

The good news is that most of the missing plants required for phase 1 of our North and South garden project have been sourced and planted. Here's hoping they settle in and get growing well.

Thanks to the good neighbours who have once again given up their time to keep an eye on them and keep them watered during the recent hot spell.

The semi circular beds in the South garden are currently still bare. The Salix plants still not traced.
I am however assured that some summer bedding plants will be put in place this coming Friday. The last two weeks were a little too hot and dry and would have meant a lot of watering .I cant tell you the plant varieties to expect, but let us hope they thrive and bring some Summer cheer.

FRIENDS OF THE OLD MEADOW

A further call to action for anyone wanting some gentle exercise and a chat with neighbours!
Wednesday 14th July at 10:00am we plan to meet up and carry out some general weeding and tidying along with cleaning the main gates and treating the wood on the two benches.

Don't forget we have the brushes, wheelbarrow, buckets stored in the bike store at the rear of Amber Rise along with the High Vis vests to help keep you visible and safe if you are working in the roadway and parking areas. All you will need are gardening gloves.

The plan once again will be to provide a cup of coffee and biscuits and the opportunity for chat once the work is done. Why not come along, it can be fun!

WILDLIFE

The photograph is of a common blue damselfly. We normally see damselflies along the riverbank but for the first time this year they ventured into the courtyard, to rest in the sun on the laurel hedging. Great to see but tricky to photograph.
