Some sunshine at last.....
It is a pleasure at last to see some much-awaited sunshine, the only downside is that sun after rain brings on the weeds in leaps and bounds. The more ground cover we can plant the less weeding there will be to do. It is a repetitive task because as soon as you weed one area there is another one waiting for you! I certainly don't envy the gardeners doing their best to keep up with growing grass and constant weeding. This of course is in addition to all the pruning and cutting back that is needed as part of the improvements we want to see around the estate grounds.

Bamboo - more to be done but we are getting there...
We are now onto Phase Two of the bamboo removal with herbicide spraying of a couple of other areas in the north garden that will be carried out in the next couple of months. The grinding process carried out after Phase One has left a lot of bare soil that we endeavour to keep in a tidy state until we are able to consider planting in the autumn/winter of this year. We are fortunate to have this time to plan what to plant in the bare ground in the north garden after the bamboo clearance. We should be able to introduce some specimen trees and shrubs to give colour, as soon as we get the green light that the bamboo is no longer a threat to the planting. We have to be patient......

Friends of The Old Meadow (FoTOM)
We are intending to prepare a list of tasks that can be managed by members of FoTOM. We feel this will allow willing residents a choice of what they would like to tackle at a time that suits them. The list will appear on the 'Friends' WhatsApp in the near future. If you'd like to join the WhatsApp group let the website administrator know.
